Electrical Plugs & Adapters in Azerbaijan: What You Need
Don't let a dead battery ruin your trip. Here is the technical info on charging your devices in Baku.
Plug Type: C and F 🔌
Azerbaijan uses the standard European 2-pin plugs.
- Type C: The standard "Europlug" (two round pins).
- Type F: The "Schuko" plug (two round pins with earth clips on the side).
Compatible with: Most of Europe (Germany, France, Spain, Russia, Turkey).
NOT Compatible with: UK, USA, Canada, Australia.
Voltage & Frequency âš¡
- Voltage: 220V (Standard 220-240V).
- Frequency: 50Hz.
For US/Canada Travelers (110V):
- Phone/Laptop Chargers: Check the fine print on your charger block. If it says "INPUT: 100-240V", you are safe. You only need a plug adapter.
- Hair Dryers/Straighteners: If your device says "110V ONLY", DO NOT PLUG IT IN. It will explode or melt. You need a heavy voltage converter (not worth bringing).
Where to Buy Adapters 🛒
Forgot your adapter? No problem.
- Electronics Stores: "Kontakt Home", "Irshad Electronics" (found in every mall).
- Supermarkets: Large "Bravo" supermarkets often have a travel section.
- Bazaars: Small shops in underground passages sell cheap adapters for 2-3 AZN.
Summary
- From Europe? You don't need anything.
- From UK/US/Aus? Bring a Type C/F adapter.
- Check Voltage: Ensure your devices handle 220V.
